Sew My Style 2019

Sew My Style – Jeans in July – Patterns Presentation

Hello everyone and happy July !

This month, with Sew My Style, we are sewing jeans !! How exciting ! Jeans are often seen as a scary thing to sew, but really, it’s like anything else : you just have to follow the steps !

Jeans come in multiple styles, and to be sure you find one that suits you, this month you have a choice between 4 wonderful patterns :

  1. By Megan Nielsen : the Ash Jeans (4 in 1!)

As Megan herself explains, the Ash jeans is the ultimate stretch jean pattern set. It includes four cuts and multiple lengths for tall, regular and cropped. The pattern features a comfortable rise, close fit through the waist and hips and classic jeans details.

Version 1 is a modern slim leg jean. Version 2 is a skinny jean. Version 3 is a flare jean. Version 4 is a wide leg jean.

No need to buy multiple jeans patterns – this pattern has you covered with four patterns in one set!

Plus, Megan also released a Curve edition of the Ash jeans pattern which look amazing !

The Dawn jeans are a classic high waisted rigid jean pattern set. It includes four cuts and multiple lengths for tall, regular and cropped. Pattern features a high rise to sit on the natural waist, button fly, close fit through the waist and hips and classic jeans details.

View A is a tapered leg jean. View B is a straight leg jean. View C is a wide leg jean. View D is a jean short.

They also exist in an extended size range!

My personal favorite is view A! I won’t have time to sew it this July due to impending wedding dress sewing but I am hoping to make it in the fall or next spring!

3. The Ames Jeans by Cashmerette

The Ames Jeans are described as classic and versatile. It features all the details of a real pair of jeans : 5-pocket, rivets, belt loops and a fly front. It comes with two leg options – skinny or straight. It also features a high rise and pocket stay for secret smooth shaping.

4. Finally, the Quadra or Fulford Jeans by Thread Theory:

If you identify as a male sewist (or if you are a particularly generous female sewist), you could sew a pair of men jeans !

« The Quadra Jeans sewing pattern provides a subtly modern take on the classic straight leg jean.  This pair of jeans features a slight taper to the leg and extra room in the thigh to allow for lots of movement.  They sit below the waist as a moderate low rise.  Sew these jeans in denim with no stretch or up to 2% elastane to add just that little bit of additional flexibility that so perfectly suits an active lifestyle. »

« The Fulford Jeans sewing pattern is a truly classic straight leg jean.  This pair of jeans features a regular fit in the thigh and straight legs.  They feature a conservatively high rise reminiscent of vintage work jeans that sits just below the waist.  Sew these jeans in a rugged denim and expect to wear this hard wearing pair for years to come. »

So, what will it be for you ? As I said above, I am seriously considering the Dawn jeans myself, even though it’s a style I don’t wear, I find them very stylish and want to try them! What do you think ? Have you already made one of the patterns listed above ?
